Today James opened his eyes a little, but spotted a toy in Emily's hand and was able to see it and say what it was! A great moment.

He also spoke to his grandma on the phone, greeting her with "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat." He then listed to her the things he tried to eat that day. Good boy!
James is settling into life at Franciscan Hospital in Brighton, MA. The team there reckon he'll be there for six to eight weeks.

This morning James greeted his father with "What's up, Chicken Butt?"!

Today James gave his big belly laugh twice, and played cave under a blanket with a flashlight with his aunt Laura!

Yesterday James sat up in bed and held his own head up for two minutes...very encouraging! And this morning he said "I love you, mommy". Next challenge is to get him to eat something.

James is still sleepy from surgery yesterday, but when asked if he would prefer to be read to, or sung to, he answered "read!".

Andrew and Emily have checked out a couple of rehabilitation centres, and have decided they like St. Frances the best. It looks as if he will be moved there early next week.

What's happening today

This blog has been set up to keep all of those concerned about James in the loop...we will do our best to up-date daily, so keep checking back here.

Today James will be going in to surgery to have some more fluid drained. We are not yet sure of the surgery time.

***Update: James had his surgery at 11 this morning. It only lasted an hour, and all went well. It is now looking like James may be discharged to a Rehab Center at the end of this week or early next. Andrew and Emily will be checking out the recomended ones in the next few days.
